While they are considered as relatively maintenance free, there are some steps that should be taken in order to ensure that metal buildings remain attractive and functional for their entire lifetime. As soon as the building is completed, any foreign materials should be removed from the roof and other flat surfaces. Objects containing iron such as drill bits, screws or pop rivets left in place can rust and discolor the roofing panels. They should be swept away using a soft brush.
